Today we will talk about concepts in Chapter 18. Specifically,The Properties of Matter. The two properties that all matter has are volume and mass, regardless of the size. Today, we’ll discuss ways to describe matter . We’ll talk about physical properties of matter- ways to identify matter.
Most importantly, we’ll discuss the concept of density. Density is mass per unit volume. The density does not change when the size of the sample changes. Our demonstrations today in class will bring this concept to light. Worksheet will be given to students to practice calculating density.
Tuesday
Today we will discuss Chemical properties of matter. We’ll reflect on yesterdays demonstration to ascertain the difference between physical and chemical properties of matter.
Wednesday
Physical changes don’t form new substances . Chemical changes do. This will be discussed at length during class today.
Thursday
This is the last day of school before Christmas Break. Students will use class time to complete the glossary work in their Science Lab notebooks and we will view a video.
