Science Fair Projects Due February 8th
Science Fair Projects are due February 8th. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO DO A SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT! The project needs to be on a trifold board. If an experiment was performed, there must be photos of the experiment outlining the steps used in the project. ALL STUDENTS have been given a Science Fair packet outlining the format of the board.The projects are to be brought to my classroom , no later than February 8th. Thank you to all of the parents who worked so diligently with their students on these projects.
Lesson Plans for week of February 4, 2008
Monday
This week , we will be exploring information in Chapter 15, The Atmosphere.We’ll talk about the definition of the atmosphere and its basic characteristics.. We’ll learn about the composition and the concepts of atmospheric pressure and temperature.
Tuesday
Today, we’ll talk about the layers of the atmosphere. Specifically, the troposphere,the stratosphere,the mesosphere, the thermosphere and the ionosphere. Students will do vocabulary for Chapter 15. They will also answer the questions on page 383 and 387 of their textbook.
Wednesday
Today, we’ll begin Section II, discussing Heating of the Atmosphere.We’ll learn about energy and The Greenhouse Effect.
Thursday
Today, we’ll talk about Atmospheric Pressure and Winds.
Specifically, we’ll discuss why air moves, pressure belts, the coriolis effect and types of winds like Trade Winds, The Doldrums and Horse Latitudes, Westerlies, Polar Easterlies,Jet streams and Local winds.
Friday
There will be an assessment of all the information taught this week. We will continue with Chapter 15 next week with the last section on Air pollution. Science Projects are due today.
