Science in the News
This week, students are asked to find newspaper or magazine articles that reflect some aspect of Science. It could be about any newsworthy events or discoveries regarding scientific topics . The students need to attach the article to a piece of loose leaf and write one paragraph about the article and another paragraph about why they thought this article was of interest. That’s a total of two paragraphs that need to be written by the student.
In anticipation of TCAPs we will be reviewing this week and next week.
Monday
Todays topics include Cell Structure and Function including distinguishing plant and animal cells P.I. 7.1 spi.1,2,3,4,5
Tuesday
Today we wil continue to review cells, particularly cells in motion.We’ll focus on mitosis and meiosis and cells in motion. P.I. 7.1.spi.4
Wednesday
Todays’ topics will be Food production and Energy for Life. today we will review what Plants’ need, Photosynthesis and Respiration.

Thursday
Today we’ll talk about how animals get oxygen and the oxygen-carbon dioxide cycle.
Friday
Today all classes will go to the writing lab to complete a practice probe for topics covered in class this week. This assessment will demonstrate the students understanding of the two topics addressed in class.

Todays’ topic is Atmospheric Cycles. We’ll review temperature, evaporation and condensation, the water cycle. P.I. 7.8 spi .1,2,3,4

We’ll do work today on weather maps and predicting weather.
Thursday
Today, we’ll review Structure and Property of Matter. We’ll go over measurable properties of matter, elements, compounds and mixtures and revisit solids , liquids and gases. P.I. 7.12 spi 1,2,3,4,
Friday
Today, we’ll revisit solids, liquids and gases PI 7.12 spi 3 There wil be assessment based on all of the topics covered this week.
Note: Lesson Plans are subject to change at teachers’ discretion.
There will be no homework for this week. Students are encouraged to read over materials from their bellwork and notetaking and come to class prepared to participate in discussions regarding all subject matter addressed on the Think Link practice tests.
Monday
Today, bellwork (previous two weeks )and workbook pages ( Chapter 14,15 and 15 )will be checked. We will have a Think Link review in class today.
Tuesday
All students will take the Think Link test today.
Wednesday
We will complete Chaptyer 17 ( Section Three ) in class today.
Thursday
Students will have a Chapter Seventeen assessment today.
Friday
Today, we will begin our T-Cap practice . Spring Break begins today.
